A few places of potential interest to holidaymakers

Located close to a public footpath that leads through the Well Vale Estate to the market town of Alford, through woodlands within some of which were located World War 2 resistance facilities, thankfully never used in anger.

Closeby are prehistoric burial mounds including Giants Hill

Born and raised in the nearby village of Willoughby was Captain John Smith of Pocahontas fame. Captain Smith was Governor of the very first British settlement in what is now the USA.

In the nearby town of Spilsby John Franklin was born and raised.

Another of yellowbelly (Lincolnshire natives enjoy this curious epithet) of repute was Alfred Lord Tennyson who was born and raised in nearby Somersby

In nearby Alford, Thomas Paine (Payne), acclaimed as the “Father of the American Revolution, worked as an Excise Officer before emigrating to the Amercian colonies”
